What to remember:
- Google Search Console now offers “platform properties” to track the performance of your Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube content in Google search results.
- Three sections are concerned: the performance report, the insights report and the “achievements”.
- The verification is done as for a classic property, via the Search Console property selector.
- The deployment is gradual: the functionality is not yet visible for all accounts.
This novelty, announced by Google And relayed by Barry Schwartz on Search Engine Roundtable on July 7, 2026fills a void that many SEOs and content creators have been asking for for a long time. Until now, Search Console only provided information on properties that one technically owned or managed, such as a website. It is therefore impossible to know how an Instagram post or YouTube video behaved in Google searches, unless you have developer access to the platform concerned.
Three new locations for this data
Google has integrated this information directly into the tools that Search Console users are already familiar with.
- THE performance report displays total clicks, impressions, and other common metrics. It becomes possible to filter and sort this data to identify which specific posts and which queries generate the most traffic. As with other Search Console reports, data export remains available for those who prefer to analyze it with another tool.
- The rinsight gives a more concise overview: recent traffic trends, top-performing posts, and how people discover the account via Google.
- There achievements section allows you to track your progress and mark milestones reached, such as reaching a new threshold of cumulative clicks from Google Search over the last 28 days.
This approach is reminiscent of the social media data already present in Search Console’s insights reports, but it goes further by now covering four specific platforms with a dedicated performance report.
To access this new data, prior verification is necessary.
The procedure to follow is as follows:
- Access Search Console,
- Go to the verification page or open the property selector available throughout the interface,
- Then click on “Add a property”.
- You must then choose one of the four available platforms, Instagram, TikTok, X or YouTube, then follow the steps displayed on the screen to authorize the connection securely.
Google specifies that the deployment of this functionality will be done gradually in the coming weeks. Some accounts will therefore not yet see this option appear. A help document detailing the implementation of platform properties had also been published by Google a few weeks before the official announcement, before being quickly withdrawn.
It should also be noted that this functionality is distinct from “search profiles”, another new feature from Google which has its own analysis statistics.
Unprecedented access to data previously out of reach
Until now, no Google tool allowed you to measure the performance of content on domains or properties that you did not own. With platform properties, it becomes possible to see how content published on third-party platforms behaves in Search, even without developer access to those platforms. For content creators and marketing teams active on social media, this opens a new window of analysis into how Google bridges its search results and social content.
