Google is expanding its real-time voice and visual search tool to more than 200 countries and territories. The novelty is based on a new multilingual audio model and concretely changes the way in which we can interact with the search engine.

What to remember:

  • Search Live is now available in all countries and languages where Google AI mode is accessible, more than 200 countries and territories.
  • The feature allows you to ask questions out loud and use your camera to get help in real time.
  • The expansion is made possible by a new model, Gemini 3.1 Flash Live, natively multilingual.
  • Search Live is accessible from the Google app on Android and iOS.

Google announced on March 26, 2026 the global expansion of Search Live, its interactive search functionality available in the AI Mode of the Google application. Previously limited to certain markets, it is now open to all users in languages and countries where AI Mode is available.

Search Live differs from traditional search by its character conversational and multimodal. Concretely, the user opens the Google application on Android or iOS, presses the Live icon under the search bar, and can directly ask their question out loud. They receive an audio response, then can follow up with follow-up questions or consult web links to explore the topic in more depth.

The feature also integrates the phone's camera. If you're faced with a concrete problem, like installing a wall shelf, you can activate your camera so that Search sees what you see and offers you suitable suggestions, accompanied by useful links. This same option is available directly from Google Lens : a Live button appears at the bottom of the screen to switch to real-time conversation mode.

Gemini 3.1 Flash Live, the engine behind the expansion

This global deployment is made possible by Google's new audio and voice model, Gemini 3.1 Flash Live. It provides more natural and more fluid conversations, and above all has the particularity of being natively multilingual. This means that users can contact Search in their own language without any special configuration, which was a major obstacle to international distribution until now.

For what uses?

Search Live is designed to situations where typing a query is impractical or insufficient : DIY, cooking, moving, identifying an object or a plant… Anything that requires immediate, visual or verbal help, and a dialogue-type interaction rather than a simple textual request.
